Ewe & Me - in honour of Bev Sloan
The Ewe & Me Fund was created to honour the legacy of Bev Sloan (1957–2025)—a dedicated Auslan-English interpreter, mentor, and advocate for professional development in the interpreting field.
Bev was deeply passionate about supporting and uplifting fellow interpreters, particularly those at the start of their careers. She believed in lifelong learning, professional excellence, and ensuring that Deaf communities had access to skilled, compassionate interpreters. She generously shared her knowledge, mentored countless colleagues, and inspired many with her unwavering commitment to the profession.
In her honour, the Ewe & Me Fund seeks to continue Bev’s legacy of support and education by providing scholarships and funding opportunities for the Auslan Community. Whether through assisting with conference attendance, providing essential resources, or funding professional development, the fund embodies Bev’s spirit of generosity and dedication.
The name "Ewe & Me" reflects Bev’s love for sheep—a passion that brought her joy and became a memorable part of her identity. It also symbolizes the connection between interpreters and the communities they serve, emphasizing the importance of supporting one another in this profession.
By contributing to or benefiting from the Ewe & Me Fund, you are helping to carry forward Bev’s mission: ensuring that interpreters have the support they need to grow, learn, and provide the highest level of access for the Deaf community.
